What we can learn from the book of Exodus: “BE STILL”
This week, Jodi Lenker took us into the book of Exodus - giving a fresh perspective to a story we can remember from Sunday School: The Israelites leaving Egypt and slavery and heading into the desert.
It is easy for us to judge the Israelites for their grumbling and unbelief, but remember - we know how the story ends, and they only knew a life of slavery in Egypt (because of how many years and generations it had been since the time of Joseph).
God had to pull Egypt out of the Israelites as much as (or maybe even more than) he had to pull the Israelites out of Egypt. It was all they knew. To be frank, the wilderness is not such a bad because it is a place of preparing. What is your wilderness today? What Jerico is God preparing you for?
No matter where we are, wilderness or Promised Land, we can take refuge and hope in remembering… “The Lord will fight for you, we need only to be still.” - Exodus 14:14
The Bible verses we read/reference are:
Exodus 12:37-39
Exodus 14:10-14
Exodus 14:19-31
Jodi challenged everyone to read the book of Exodus again, with a prepared, new perspective. If you really read it and pay attention, it is truly a great action movie!
