River’s Edge Bible Ministries (REBM)
Mission Statement
Love God wholeheartedly, love others, and make disciples according to and through God's Word.
Statement of Faith
God is One God who has revealed Himself as the Trinity: God, the Father; God, the Son (Jesus Christ); and God, the Holy Spirit.
God, the Father, created the earth and is sovereign over all things.
Jesus Christ, Himself, is God; is the one and only Son of God; is preexistent with God the Father; was conceived of the Holy Spirit; was born of the Virgin Mary; was sinless in His life; died upon the Cross as the only substitutionary sacrifice for the sin of all man; was raised by God the Father from the dead; ascended into heaven to the right hand of God the Father; and will come again, to this earth, to raise those made righteous through him to eternal life.
The Holy Spirit is one of the three persons of the Trinity and was sent into the world to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and judgment. All who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ are guided by the Spirit into truth. Through the Holy Spirit, the fruit and gifts of the Spirit are given to believers to build up and work with the body of Christ - who is the Church.
The Holy Bible is the inspired, unchanging, and infallible Word of God. It is living and active today. It is the power of God for all people.
Each human, being from conception, is created by God and in His image. God did not make a mistake when he created each person. He created them as they are, for His purpose.
Because of disobedience, each person is a sinner, separated from God, with no hope of eternal life with God. Salvation from sin, reconciliation with God, and the hope of everlasting life, are given by the grace of God through a person's repentance, and faith in and acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ.
When a person is born again in the Lord Jesus Christ, he/she becomes a new creation, and should desire to live a life in step with Him.
Biblical Guidelines & Principles
The Bible teaches that Christians, by means of the blood of Jesus Christ and the filling of the Holy Spirit, are to live pure and holy lives. Therefore, REBM has adopted the following guidelines relative to personal conduct and lifestyle.
I Thessalonians 4:3-7 states: "It is God's will that you should be holy: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish all such sins, as we have already warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit."
As society increasingly accepts anti-Biblical practices and lifestyles, the following activities, relationships, and beliefs shall not be practiced by REBM board members or volunteers:
Use of God's name in vain.
Use of sexually explicit language.
Use of illegal drugs or abuse of prescription or non-prescription drugs.
The stance of a pro-abortion position.
Viewing and use of pornographic material.
Couples of the opposite gender engaging in premarital or extra-marital sexual relationships.
Couples of the opposite gender living together without being married.
Homosexual and lesbian relationships.
Molestation and/or deviant sexual activity with youth and children.
Sexual relationships with animals.
Dependency on alcohol.
Dependency on tobacco products.
REBM Board members and volunteers will adhere to and uphold the biblical standards of marriage between one man and one woman. As Christ loves the church, married couples should edify and remain faithful to one another. The Bible shows us the qualities married couples should strive for in the following Scriptures:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Ephesians 5:21-33 advises that a wife is to put her husband first as the church puts Christ first. A husband is told to love his wife just as Christ loved the church and gave His life for it.
