Heaven - Have you made your reservation?

Each week, we have such amazing speakers. Today, was no exception. Harold Paul always leads us to so much scripture, and we love it!

The Bible teaches us about three Heavens:

  1. the sky

  2. beyond the sky (what we know as outer space) and

  3. the dwelling place of God

Today, we focused on the third Heaven, where the throne is not empty!

John 14 talks about Heaven, a place, or topos:

τόπος

Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine

Transliteration: topos

Pronunciation: TOH-pos

Definition: a spot (i.e. location)

Heaven is a place beyond where we are today. Like “true north” is always true north ... no matter where you are at, the third Heaven is always here.

In Hebrews, we learn about Majesty on high, or hupsélos:

ὑψηλός

Part of Speech: Adjective

Transliteration: hupsélos

Pronunciation: hoop-say-los'

Definition: lofty (in place or character)

Harold challenged us: Don't be so Heavenly minded we are no Earthly good… Be Heavenly minded to be Earthly good. Earthly focus should be on a life towards God to lead to Heaven.

What is Heaven like? We really won’t know until we get there. There are two things we do know:

  1. God is there

  2. Jesus is there

If you think on it, there will be no need for prayer in Heaven.

Heaven will be filled with worship! Did you know that Revelation 19:1 is the only place “Hallelujah” is found in the entire New Testament?

After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.”

~ Revelation 19:1

Worship is the path through which we exchange things of this world for a reality of what Heaven is like.

God created angels for a purpose that is different than His purpose for man. We will not become angels when we die. We will not get wings, but, in Heaven, we will worship with the angels.

Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.

~ Revelation 5:11

At the time this passage was written, math and numbers did not exceed 10,000 times 10,000 was the highest number they knew.

Know this: Angels rejoice when we are saved.

“Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

~ Luke 15:10

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

~ Hebrews 13:2

We can be confident in knowing that Heaven will not be boring because God is not boring. We will be so in awe from being in His presence, we won't have much time for anything else.

What about babies and children? Do they go to Heaven? Is there a set age of accountability? - Not in the Bible. When a person is old enough to comprehend and have learned who Jesus is and what He has done, that is the age we become responsible for making the choice to accept Christ and secure our ticket to Heaven.

So… Have you make your reservation? KNOW that you have it before it's too late.
