Urgency

We are not getting any more time. It is fleeting.
Revelation 12:12
Therefore, rejoice, O heavens! And you who live in the heavens, rejoice! But terror will come on the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you in great anger, knowing that he has little time.”
There are people everyday who have not accepted Jesus as Christ of their heart.
Jesus gave his disciples a job to do…
Matthew 28:18-20
[18] Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. [19] Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. [20] Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
We are looking at two steps we need to take:
Step 1
There is an urgency for us to take the first step to repent, be baptized, and fully live for God. You can't lead others to Him if you're not living for Him yourself.
Step 2
Tell others about Christ. If step two makes you nervous, read the Bible.
2 Timothy 2:3-7
[3] Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. [4] Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them. [5] And athletes cannot win the prize unless they follow the rules. [6] And hardworking farmers should be the first to enjoy the fruit of their labor. [7] Think about what I am saying. The Lord will help you understand all these things.
Paul makes three metaphors here:
Soldier - Represents dedication and purpose. They have to stay alert and cannot be distracted by civilian affairs. They must remain alert and devoted to their mission and commander.
Athlete - Represents one who understands the discipline and obedience to the rules. They train hard. They run with a goal in mind and follows rules as to not be disqualified from their prize.
Farmer - Represents diligence and certainty of a time sensitive harvest. They operate under the seasons. They know when to plant and when to reap.
We need to be all three of these, but the farmer might be the most important of the three. There is a short time before Jesus is coming back, and the farmer feels the urgency.
Time is running out. What is holding you back from sharing the Gospel? Is life getting in your way? Is fear getting in your way? Fear of rejection? Fear of what others might think of you?
We need to be mindful of the urgency and the importance of the mission.
