Ezer Kenegdo
Yesterday morning, Jodi Lenker gave us a Mother’s Day message. She has been patiently waiting to present this, and we were excited that we were finally able to receive this word.
Bible verses that we read and/or referenced on Sunday morning were:
Gen. 2:18-23
Psalm 33:20
Psalm 70:5
Psalm 115:9
Psalm 121:1-2
Deut. 33:29
Jodi taught us about the meaning of Ezer Kenegdo…
“I will make a helper [ezer] suitable [kenegdo] for him,” ~ Genesis 2:18
Ezer
עֵזֶר
Ezer: Help, Helper, Support
Kenegdo
כְּנֶגְדּוֹ
Ke (כְּ): A preposition meaning “like” or “as.”
Negdo (נֶגְדּוֹ): Meaning “opposite” as in mirroring or “corresponding to” or “Suitable”
Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is your shield and helper [ezer] and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will tread on their heights. ~ Deuteronomy 33:29
Ezer Kenegdo is a Hebrew term The Hebrew language can be a bit difficult to understand, in that it is “word poor”, meaning there are several definitions of one word. It is also “verb forward”, always doing or moving.
God designed women to be “suitable helpers” for men. He did not make woman to be “less than” man. Woman was made to compliment man, honestly to be his “other half”. Jodi also shared with us the story of Abigail from 1 Sam. 25. She was the epitome of Ezer Kenegdo.
Do you believe what you read in the Bible? Do you believe what you read in Genesis? How about Matthew? What about Acts? We need to be digging into the Bible and what study what it is telling us. It is the infallible Word of God. You either believe it or you don’t. We encourage you to open your Bible and start your journey
