Prayer Leads to Victory

Message by: Evangelist Mason Hoover

God has given us the assignment of the Great Commission… to make disciples.

1 Timothy 2:3-4
This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

The only thing we take to Heaven is people.

Luke 4:18
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,

The twin of sin is poverty.

When you start to understand the facts, you start to see that people don't need more government to save them from poverty, they need a miracle - they need Jesus.

A bill-pay doesn't fix depression or anxiety. If everyone was made rich, it wouldn't fix anything. It would probably get worse… look at rich elites.

People get boxed into victim mentalities. God calls us to be victors!

John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

We are called to pursue Him just as Jesus is pursuing us.

We need to bring others with us in the pursuit of Jesus.

John 14:12-14
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My Name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in My Name, and I will do it.

God's willing. Are you?

God gave Moses the staff to part the Red Sea, but Moses has to choose to use it.

Mason chooses to be the hands and feet of Jesus. He finds joy in getting to see the captives being set free when he is on the road with Mason Hoover Ministries - evangelizing in the name of Jesus Christ.

Before you hit the streets, you have to prepare… and pray!

Proverbs 13:20
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

There is no one wiser than God, so why not spend more time with Him in the Word and in prayer?

Ephesians 6:18
praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

Mason breaks it down that there are three kinds of prayer.

Just like there are different kinds of sports, there are different kind of prayers.

Not all sports are the same. Not all prayers are the same.

Not all sports use the same gear. Not all prayers are used as the same weapon.

The Prayer of Sanctification

Luke 22:42
“Father, if You are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want Your will to be done, not mine.”

Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.

Matthew 16:24
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow Me.”

Jesus healed anyone who came upon Him… so we know that sickness is NOT of God.

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

You need to pray with the prayer for each situation.

You need to have tenacity.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

James 5:15
Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

The prayer of Sanctification will not work to heal the sick; for that you will need…

The Prayer of Faith

James 5:16
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

You need to confess and have faith that your prayers have power.

What is faith?

Mark 11:20-24
The next morning as they passed by the fig tree He had cursed, the disciples noticed it had withered from the roots up. Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree on the previous day and exclaimed, “Look, Rabbi! The fig tree You cursed has withered and died!” Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

Faith is believing and receiving it before you even have it.

Faith is getting rid of doubt and disbelief.

The enemy uses the opposite of faith… The enemy uses fear.

We need to be faithful wherever we are… work, home, church….. everywhere.

Salvation is an act of Faith… we believe what will happen to us when we die.

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We should be going to prayer with our boxing gloves on and ready to fight.

Faith doesn't ignore the facts. But we know the truth. God has given us a power that can do all things.

Hebrews 11:1
Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.

You have to continue to hope, and that is where your faith will come alive again.

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Your best days are not behind you.

Psalm 23:6
Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

When we boldly carry goodness and mercy with us, people will notice.

James 1:22-25
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

When you reach others for Christ, we should be full of hope and joy.

The devil uses deceit and discouragement because he knows we have more authority than him. If he creates disbelief he can trip us up… We have to make sure we don’t let discouragement and disbelief in.

Also, when you are reaching out to others, remember that you are just the waitress. The “Chef” is in the back. We are just the messenger who is helping connect the Chef with the customer, and we have a great product to deliver!

The prayer of Faith depends on you believing what God has for you.

JESUS taught us to pray Thy will be done… why say Thy will be done? Because the enemy has a will too…

What stops the prayer of Faith? Answer: Being double minded.

James 1:7-8
For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Align your life with His will.

The third kind of prayer is the one that will change America…

The Prayer of Repentance

Acts 3:19-20
Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and He will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.

The simplicity of Repentance is - I messed up, Lord, and I need your help.

After Repentance, follows Salvation which is the most beautiful thing.

The fear of death controls people. When you are saved, this fear can no longer control you, and you are free.

We should be praying that everyone knows this kind of freedom and will be with Jesus (and us) in Heaven. God calls us to help lead others to this freedom and victory… to Salvation.
